In-depth evaluation and testing of electrical products, components, and appliances to determine whether defects, flaws, or construction errors contributed to a fire or failure.
Overview
Our product failure analysis involves in-depth evaluation and testing of electrical products, components, and appliances involved in fire or failure incidents. We examine products from residential appliances to commercial distribution systems to determine the root cause of failure.
We identify potential failure modes such as manufacturing defects, design flaws, material deficiencies, and construction or installation errors. Each examination determines whether the product performed as intended or whether a deficiency contributed to the incident.
Our findings are documented with the rigor required for litigation, subrogation, and regulatory proceedings.
Scope
Identify deficiencies introduced during the manufacturing process — improper assembly, faulty components, substandard materials, or quality control failures that led to product malfunction.
Evaluate whether the product’s design created conditions for failure — inadequate thermal protection, insufficient clearances, improper material selection, or missing safety features.
Determine whether improper installation, incorrect wiring, or failure to follow manufacturer specifications contributed to the product failure or fire event.
Laboratory examination of individual components — circuit boards, connectors, switches, and wiring — to isolate the specific point of failure and determine the failure mechanism.
