Overview
Our vehicle fire investigations cover passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and agricultural equipment. Both investigators hold CVFI certification, and our team brings automotive technician training and firsthand fire suppression experience from 18 years of volunteer fire service.
Investigations include detailed examination of 12-volt electrical systems, alternators, batteries, battery conduits, and aftermarket wiring installations. We trace the fire’s path through the vehicle to determine the area of origin and identify the ignition source.
Our findings are documented to the same standard as our structural fire investigations — thorough, defensible, and suitable for litigation.
Scope
Complete examination of the vehicle’s 12-volt electrical system, including wiring harnesses, fuse boxes, relays, and power distribution. Trace circuits to identify shorts, overloads, or insulation failures.
Evaluate alternator condition, voltage regulator function, and charging system integrity. Determine whether overcharging, bearing failure, or internal faults contributed to the fire.
Examine battery condition, terminal connections, cable routing, and conduit integrity. Assess whether thermal runaway, improper installation, or damaged cables were involved.
Inspect aftermarket installations — audio systems, lighting, winches, and accessories. Determine whether non-factory wiring was improperly installed, undersized, or lacked appropriate circuit protection.
